It's great that you want to create your own group! This page will help to guide you through the whole process. First, it is a good idea to have a look at our current Societies and Clubs to see if there would be any overlap, as this is one of the things that could stop your group from existing. After that it is always good to reach out to the Vice President Societies and Sport, as they can give you some advice around your group and also help you start the ratification process.
The process
To apply to get a new group ratified we need you to provide us with some detail about the aims of the group and provide examples of the core activities the members would be involved in. You will also need to think about financial forecasts and budgeting, and any possible risks to make sure the club or society would be sustainable and successful. We have put together two documents to help you do this:

These documents can be submitted via email to the Vice President of Societies and Sports (Vpsocsport@su.rhul.ac.uk) during the ratification window which is open from 1 October 2026 to 4 December 2026. Applications submitted outside this window will not be considered for ratification.
The applications will then be reviewed by a panel with outcomes and details on how to appeal following at the beginning of Term 2.
